Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most iconic and well-celebrated films in the cinema, having provided us with masterpieces like Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War, and of course Avenger: Infinity War and Endgame.

These films would not have been successful without the brilliant inclusions of iconic scenes and great scriptwriting. In this video, we’ll be counting down five events in phase 3 of the MCU that fans will never forget.

5. Doctor Strange – Time Loop

Doctor Strange may not have been as iconic as Black Panther or Captain America: Civil War in the MCU fanbase, but this scene is one for the books. It solidifies itself as the best moment in the whole film, and it shows us how clever and creative the Time Stone Doctor Strange is. Being able to trap a potent entity in a time leap and force him to agree with your terms finally is quite a feat.

This scene was so iconic that weeks after the film hit cinemas, everyone was using “Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain.” to greet their friends.

4. Infinity War – Loki’s Death

Throughout the MCU’s storyline, Loki has managed to die several times, but this is probably the first time we felt like: “Oh no. Did he die?” Pummeling down Thor, extracting the tesseract, and overpowering the Hulk-like he wasn’t a towering 8’5ft and 1400lbs monster was definitely enough to make viewers feel like Thanos was actually the real deal. He was looking to be stronger than how he was initially painted out to be.

This dark yet moving scene was definitely what helped set the tone for the rest of the movies that followed suit.

3. Avengers: Endgame – Cap Wields the Mjolnir

Who would have thought that a comedic scene in the Age of Ultron about lifting Thor’s hammer was a foreshadowing of one of the most iconic scenes in a movie studded with many iconic locations?

Captain America lifting Thor’s hammer, which can only be wielded by those who are worthy, is Captain America’s best moment in all of the films he’s in. It shows that he was always worthy of wielding the hammer, but he never really felt the need to do so until then.

2. Avengers: Endgame – Iron Man’s Death

This moment is one of the best send off to a beloved movie character in the decade. Tony Stark ends up making the sacrifice he was always meant to make, repeating the phrase that started it all in the first film with him revealing that he was Iron-man and sacrificing his life for the greater good of the universe. This was a great way to put a cap on the complete 180 of Iron Man’s character development as he wouldn’t have made this sacrifice in earlier films.

Tony Stark using prying the gauntlet from Thanos’ fingers and sacrificing his life to set things right and return the world back to normal is the perfect way to end a story that took 22 films to lead up to.

1. Avengers: Infinity War – The Snap

As you would probably have expected, this scene will always be the most iconic in the Marvel Cinematic Universe if it isn’t topped by anything in the future, which is very unlikely and hard to believe. Imagine watching half the world and half your favorite superheroes fade to dust in the theater.

We could still vividly remember the face of Tony Stark as peter parker clings to him, sporting the iconic line “Mr. Stark, I don’t feel so good.” while slowly turning to dust. Imagine realizing minutes later that you would have to wait a year to find out what happens next. The snap is an iconic scene that transcends superhero films, arguably establishing itself as one of the most iconic scenes in cinema history, not just in the MCU universe.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe shows us what patience and passion for story-telling, even in the genre of superheroes, can do. If you think that other deserving moments belong to this list, feel free to comment down below! Thank you for watching, and don’t forget to like and subscribe.
