From an estimated worth of $20 million to $60 million, Kanye and Kim Kardashian’s Futuristic Belgian Monastery home has tripled its price in just 7 years. What did the couple do, and how did they manage to pull off tripling their suburban Los Angeles home’s worth in less than a decade?

In this video, we’ll go into detail in the before and after of the super celebrity couple’s home for the last 7 years, right up until their unfortunate divorce last February.

When they passed by what Kim referred to as an “incredibly extravagant home” while strolling through the neighborhood, she immediately fell in love with the place, and she thought it was perfection.

Kanye, however, felt that it was “workable.” They bought the house for $20 million and settled in, making several and minor changes throughout their 7 years.

With the help of creative designers Claudio Silvestrin, James Turrel, famous Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt, and of course, Kanye West himself, they transformed the extravagant $20 million property into a much more extravagant and expensive house.

The house has 15,000 square feet and has several notable highlights like the needlessly large hallway, an even larger pool, and one of the best-looking celebrity kitchens out there.

The Living Room

Kim and Kanye’s living room connected to their dining room was initially mostly white. All the furniture and the designs were predominantly white with a subtle hint of black and other dark accents, but the couple, along with their designers, wanted to change that.

The first purchase to kick-start that change was Kanye’s $600,000 Jean Royere Polar Bear Sofa. If you remember Kenny G’s video surrounded by hundreds of roses and serenading Kim for valentines day 2 years ago, it was taken in this exact room. If anything hasn’t changed in their Living Room and Dining Room, it’s the initial minimalist interior design that Axel Vervoordt wanted to keep.

The Kitchen

Among all the areas in their house, the Kitchen was what changed the most. Initially, their kitchen had a country and Mediterranean aesthetic alongside two marble tabletop islands, but the couple decided to go for a more minimalistic approach.

Now they have two kitchens, one for their staff where most of the cooking is being done, and one show kitchen that’s suspiciously squeaky clean, and we assume they rarely use it. Nevertheless, their kitchen as of the moment is more beautiful than it has ever been, being graced with contemporary Japanese ceramic artist Shiro Tsujimura’s original hand-crafted pieces that are expected to range from $1,000 to $10,000. They moved on from the original white aesthetic and went for a mostly beige-colored room graced with beautiful ceramic vases and a completely stainless steel cooking area.

The Hallway

Their seemingly empty and VERY minimalistic hallway that you’re always bound to see if you were an avid watcher of Keeping Up with the Kardashians wasn’t like that before they bought it.

Their hallway had 5 beautiful chandeliers with candle-shaped lights, and the corridor was accentuated with two old-fashioned country aesthetic tables and a pair of carpets. However, the couple scrapped almost all aspects of the original hallway, replacing the floors with a special Belgian plaster.

Because of the floor’s special material, visitors are asked to wear sock-like fabrics over their footwear when visiting and entering the area. If you do accidentally damage their floor in this instance, it would be a hassle for so many people as they’d have to have a crew fly in from Europe because they’re the only ones able to repair it.

Aside from the floor’s total renovation, they also got rid of the carpets and tables, leaving the hallway truly bare and minimalistic.

The Pool

The last one on this list, the pool, used to look like one of those swimming pools you’d see on TV whenever they talked about Beverly Hills or similar ones depicted in movies.

Once again, preferring a more minimalist design, Kanye and a couple of his designers revamped their swimming pool, completely taking it apart, removing the fountains and most grass, replacing it with a better looking and more minimalist aesthetic. Now their pool has nothing but grass, a couple of beautiful white poolside furniture, and a roofed resting area at the side.
