Thor: Love and Thunder’s trailer was recently released, and fans are hyped at the idea of seeing the mightiest avenger and his lover back on the big screen. With so much to unpack in the trailer filled with references and Easter eggs from pop culture and the comics, you may have missed a connection or two while watching it!

Let’s get into Thor: Love and Thunder’s amazing trailer and some of the details you may have missed.

Thor Sprinting Through The Years: Chris Hemsworth’s son & OG Thor

The trailer starts with a shot of Thor sprinting through the eras of his life, starting off as a (not so powerless) innocent boy into his teenage years sporting the classic winged helmet, red cape, and yellow boots that we all know and love—and finally into present-day Thor. For Marvel fans who don’t know, the young Thor we see sprinting through the field is played by the God of Thunder’s son himself, Tristan Hemsworth!

It’s not every day that you can tell your friends that you played Thor on the big screen with your dad. That’ll definitely be an amazing conversation starter when the young Hemsworth grows up.

Thor Seeking New Beginnings & Soul Searching in Alfheim!

We’re finally going to see Alfheim on the big screen after being the only one in the nine realms to not be shown in the MCU as Thor plants Stormbreaker in the elven soils of Alfheim, symbolizing how he wants the thunder and rain to pass him by.

Thor’s Blue Eyes

After Thor got his eye sliced off by hela during Thor: Ragnarok, he got gifted a prosthetic eye by Rocket Raccoon right before his battle with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. However, in the Thor: Love and thunder trailer, you may have noticed that both of his eyes are now bright blue, nodding at the idea that he may have had help from the light elves’ magic to restore his lost eye. Another neat little detail is how the scar on his right eye has now slowly started to heal!

Reveal of Zeus & The Gods of Olympus

In an almost cartoonish reveal, as lightning strikes across the halls of Olympus, Zeus is shown clasping his iconic thunderbolt as he stands over the rest of the Gods in front of him. Olympus looks amazing, with islands and buildings floating over each other, seemingly having their gravitational field and waterfalls dissipating into the mist below.

Our First Hint of Gorr the God Butcher

In the trailer, we see a frame of Thor and Korg looking in disbelief at the corpse of Falligar the Behemoth, a patron of the Galactic Frontier who was said to be capable of wrestling black holes for fun. This frame perfectly copies Jason Aaron’s God Butcher storyline in Thor: God of Thunder #3! The reveal of the Gods of Olympus also marks the entrance of one of Thor’s most dangerous adversaries in the comics—Gorr the God Butcher.

Jane Foster as The Mighty Thor

Saving the best for last, we have Jane Foster taking center stage at the end of the trailer wielding a reforged Mjolnir as Thor looks at her in disbelief. Whether we have the multiverse to thank for the return of Mjolnir or if it was reforged by the same radiation from the infinity stones that gave Jane cancer, we’re just glad to see Natalie Portman dawning the identity of the Mighty Thor!

Whether Thor will be looking to find himself in Thor: Love and Thunder or actively trying to fight against Gorr the God Butcher, we’re all stoked to see this movie on the big screen in July.
