Whether in horror movies, adventure films, or anything in between, scary monsters have always been fascinating and enigmatic. In this video, we’ll be listing down 5 of the scariest monsters from movies.

1. The Shark from Jaws

Rewatching Jaws today would no longer feel as scary as it did back in 1975, but its effects on stereotypes of sharks and how much it propagated the fear of losing a leg while swimming in the ocean have definitely cemented it as iconic.

The Shark from Jaws, also called Bruce by Spielberg on set, may have been known for notably malfunctioning a lot, but it definitely sank its teeth in the hearts of moviegoers 47 years ago.

2. The Babadook

The Babadook is a shapeshifting monster that usually takes on the form of a tall figure, wearing a black overcoat and matching top hat, and donning a creepy, almost-pasty white face that’s similar to those photos you find from creepypastas and jumpscares.

The Babadook’s face is only shown once during the film, which adds to its mysticism. With no face to look at, viewers are left to imagine what it looks like for most of the film, and there’s nothing scarier than our imaginations.

3. Death Angels from A Quiet Place

It’s undeniable how good of a horror movie A Quiet Place is. And although most of it is thanks to the unique concept, it’s important to give credit where it’s due:

The aliens in A Quiet Place, also known as Death Angels, may not be as scary as a shapeshifting monster or a man-eating giant, but they’re definitely still scary. The iconic screams, sharp body parts, long limbs, and weirdly shaped mouths all contribute to it.

4. Freddy Kreuger

A disfigured freak with blades for claws chasing people through nightmares? Say less. Freddy Kreuger is one of the most iconic monsters ever. Period.

A child murderer is already scary enough—how much more than a child murderer who’s unkillable and who also happens to be a dream demon. Thanks to Freddy, Nightmare on Elm Street is one of cinema’s most well-known horror movies.

5. Pennywise the Clown

After Stephen King’s It and the portrayal of Pennywise the Clown as a shapeshifting, mind-reading monster who devours children, the image of clowns have forever changed.

Nowadays, clowns are undeniably creepy, and for many who’ve seen the movies and read the books, clowns feel like they might open their mouths to reveal long, sharp fangs and devour you any time they please.
