With small businesses on the rise, questions of how to advertise or market products and services on social media have also gone up. Is TikTok or Instagram better for your small business? In this video, we’ll be providing answers.

Why Should I Market Online?

Today, online marketing—especially through social media—has become one of the most effective and efficient ways to advertise a product or a service. People use social media frequently, and many connect with each other online.

Because of this, the untapped audience you can advertise to is freakishly high compared to marketing physically or on the streets. Social Media is even more effective than just publishing advertisements on other sites because of its use.

When people use social media, their brains are conditioned to absorb content. If you do it right, brand recognition, product recall, and eventually, sales will definitely increase.

Is TikTok Better Than Instagram?

No. There isn’t a clear-cut answer between the two because a lot of factors have to be considered before deciding which of the two should be used for your small business. Although it would be better to have both, if your time and resources are limited, then it’s better to at least choose the more efficient one for you.

What Product or Service Do You Offer?

Although TikTok has far more users than Instagram, how much you can maximize your resources will depend on what platform you choose and what service or product you offer.

If you’re selling products like bags, shoes, and clothing, Instagram may be better for you as they provide an easy way for people to access your products on your gallery.

If your business is on the services side, like shoe repairs and customization, TikTok may be your best bet. You’ll be able to showcase more of the process—how you repair the shoes or how you paint them. Customers prefer it when they can see the process, and TikTok does that just perfectly for them.

In all honesty, no one goes to TikTok to look for local shops or products. Most of the customers in TikTok are driven by impulse, and many don’t plan on buying any product or availing of services before they see the video.

With these in mind, it’s important to choose what type of content you’re going to publish, what demographic you’re aiming for, and where you feel you’re able to maximize your time and resources the best.
