Combining the nice sunny weather all year round, a booming job market, and a low cost of living, Houston is one of the best places to consider moving to if you’re looking for a change.

In this post, with the environment, convenience, and location in mind, we’ll be looking at 5 of the best places to live in when you’re considering Houston.

Midtown

Midtown is easily the best place to live in Houston. Everything is within walking distance the moment you leave your front door, the living costs are affordable even for individuals who are still getting started with their careers, and there are a lot of options.

Midtown has groceries, local bars, an abundance of restaurants, and hobby places like The Ensemble Theatre, that’s been open since 1976. Midtown also has access to the METRORail, but you probably won’t need to use it because everything is within walking distance.

West University Place

West U is southwest of the city center. It’s a perfect choice for people that love going out for afternoon walks or riding bikes within the area. The Nature Discovery Center is also located within the area, and it’s a great outdoor oasis for everyone.

West University Place also has a great rate in terms of cost-of-living and a solid job market. It’s one of the safest communities to live in Texas, and it’s also been named as the best city to live in in 2019 by 24/7 Wall Street.

Downtown

Downtown Houston may not be as appealing as Midtown because it’s relatively more crowded, but it’s a great choice for young professionals and people who want to be closer to work. It’s easy to walk to work, and almost everything is within walking distance.

Aside from the famous Minute Maid Park, there are plenty of choices for great bars, restaurants, public parks, concert venues, and conference centers. Downtown Houston has it all. However, that also means that the spaces will cost more than the other places on this list.

Memorial

Memorial is one of the best places to live in Houston by far for people who aren’t into anything extreme. It’s a good mix between the suburbs and city life, and it has one of the best living spaces available in Houston.

For families with children looking to get the best education possible, It’s conveniently close to two of the best school districts in Houston, Spring Branch, and Katy. Cafes, restaurants, bars, golf courses, and country clubs are all conveniently located within the area. Memorial also has a lot of forest areas alongside some of the best parks and green spaces you’ll find in Houston. Keep in mind that all of these are accessible while just being a 20-minute drive from Downtown Houston.

Montrose

Montrose is a spirited place. It’s one of America’s hippest neighborhoods and the perfect place for people who love an artsy, creative, and eclectic neighborhood. Because of easy access to all the amenities you’ll need, people of all ages, from young professionals to people with families and even retirees, are flocking Montrose.

Montrose is perpetually an exciting place. It’s filled with over 50 different cultural institutions and museums with unique, interesting traits. Montrose also has a number of cool bars, inspired restaurants, and vintage shops that make sure you’ll never be bored in your stay here.
