With a rich history and even richer pockets, America has had the chance to expand its list of landmarks and monuments throughout its history. In this post, we’ll look at 5 of the best, most historical, and most iconic monuments in the United States.

5 of the Best Landmarks and Monuments in America

1. Statue of Liberty

Starting with Lady Liberty is only right. Not only has it become an icon for the city of New York, but it’s also easily recognizable as part of America’s branding even by other countries.

The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France, honoring the centennial of independence and friendship with France. The 151-foot-tall statue is also a global icon for freedom.

2. The Hollywood Sign

Serving as an icon for Hollywood celebrities, the industry, and everyone else who dreams of one day making it to the movies, the Hollywood sign is as iconic as it gets.

No one can really come close to the sign, but there are plenty of ways to enjoy it. There are observatories, spots, and a tour you can avail yourself of to experience.

3. Golden Gate Bridge

Located in San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge is a bright red bridge connecting San Francisco and Marin County. It’s heralded as one of the most stunning landmarks in the world by many, mainly thanks to its attractive color and shape, but also because of the bay surrounding it.

The Golden Gate Bridge has several tours available, but many would prefer to be able to walk through the bridge at least once.

4. Mount Rushmore

Mount Rushmore is the iconic mountain carved to honor four iconic presidents of the United States. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln.

This mountain is located in South Dakota, where parks, observatories, and other services have opened up all over.

5. The Gateway Arch

Commemorating the success of Thomas Jefferson with the 1803 Louisiana Purchase and the success of St. Louis’ role in the country’s expansion, the Gateway Arch serves as a constant reminder for the country of how far it has come.

It’s considered the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere, standing at 630 feet tall. Inside the arch, you can pay for an elevator ride that takes you to its peak.
